We build the software African businesses run on.
Inticka is a software company based in Kenya. We exist to increase the adoption of technology in Africa and beyond, by offering customised technology solutions and helping businesses put technology to work in their daily processes.
Why we started
A great deal of software sold into African businesses is built somewhere else, for someone else, and then adapted badly. It assumes fast networks, card payments and a support desk in another timezone.
We build the other way around. We start from how the business actually operates — mobile money, intermittent connectivity, staff working from phones — and design systems that hold up under those conditions rather than in spite of them.
How we judge our work
Not by whether it demos well. By whether it is still running, correctly and unattended, months after launch.
- Correctness first. Especially anywhere money moves.
- Failure is designed for. Networks drop and third parties time out; the system has to know what to do when they do.
- Plain language. Clients get told what happened, in words, including when something went wrong.
- No lock-in. You own the source, the accounts and the deployment.
Who you will be working with
Inticka is a founder-led engineering company. The person you speak to is the person who writes and is accountable for the code.
Bretton T. Gitonga Nguru
Founder & Director
Bretton founded Inticka and leads its engineering work. He builds production systems end to end — mobile applications, backend services, payment integrations and the operational tooling around them — with a particular focus on financial flows, where being approximately right is the same as being wrong.
We bring in trusted specialists for design, testing and infrastructure when a project calls for it, and we tell you when we do.

Tell us about the system you need and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right people to build it.
